Tourism and Hospitality Higher Diploma

ZCBS Diploma is designed at Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) which is equivalent to the Second year of the University Degree Programmes. This programme is suitable for students who intend to gain adequate knowledge and competence during the Higher Education programme to apply for progression in Universities for tourism related disciplines. This qualification provides underpinning knowledge for the national Occupational Standards and enhancing employability skills in work places.

This higher diploma will also encompass the high and transferable academic skills and knowledge and understanding for higher studies at University level and the challenges expected by contemporary tourism industry around the world.

Each unit comprises of Learning Outcome (LO) and Assessment Criteria (AC) and content. It also provides advice and guidance for essential delivery with pertinent references.

On completion of this course students will have the opportunity to apply for admission onto a full BA Degree programme from a range of universities in the UK, US & Canada

The aim of this programme is to offer the good level of understanding of tourism skills for students who have completed their secondary education in different sector and want to enter into the works of University sector in business discipline. The programme will encompass basic areas of tourism and hospitlity.

  • Give opportunities for students to focus on the development of higher-level skills in a tourism context
  • Render chances to develop a range of skills and techniques and attributes essential for better performance in working life
  • Developing the tourism and hospitality skills and techniques, for successful application in higher education and working life to make an essential contribution to employment
  • Maintain the threshold academic standards during the delivery for this programme
  • Enhance Cognitive skills of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis
  • Promote the skills in effective problem solving and decision making using appropriate quantitative and qualitative information
  • Assisting individuals who are already in employment to promote or entering employment in senior supervisory level in the tourism industry
  • Constitute effective communication, presentation and in writing, using a range of media widely used in contemporary business.

Candidates must have
one of the
following

  • Completion of Higher Secondary / tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline with at least 06 passes in secondary level including English and Maths and one business related subject
  • GCSE profile with strong performance in a relevant subject with an adequate performance in six GCE subjects and one UK GCE AS or A/L.
  • Minimum 03 years work experience in Junior Supervisory with clear roles and responsibilities confirmed by the employer with secondary pass in 06 subjects.

Language Eligibility

Student need to have B1 Standards on Common European Foundation of References for Languages (CEFR), if they don’t have the higher secondary qualifications in English medium and this must be form within three years.

  • This programme will render 120 credits towards level 4 QCF level equivalents
  • Students are required to complete minimum of 120 credits in which 40 credits must be from Level 4 Modules.
  • Each Module carries equal Credits.
  • Programme consists of two core module and four specialist units as well.

Method of Assessment
The programme will be assessed through different assessment instruments.

  • Assignments 60%
  • Written Examinations 40% our examinations will be conducted online as well as through our Satellite Education Points / Centers. A mixed approach has been adopted. Those students who have registered with us online, then their examinations would be conducted online. But if a student has come through our Registered Satellite Point, then their examinations would take place in the respective centers.

  • To demonstrate independent learning thoughts and justify your stands
  • To meet the local and specialist business needs in contemporary business.
  • To exhibit the skills necessary to plan, conduct and report original research
  • To recognize the personal attitudes which underpin effective communication in various contexts, and have practiced interpersonal skills in various situations.

Transferable Skills:

  • To identify the variables in the business organisations and understanding the interdependence and appreciating the importance of them
  • To promote leadership skills to become a team-leader
  • To follow a contemporary view of business organisations and be able to identify communication styles and practices which usually accompany various managerial approaches and technique,

Grade Boundaries
Candidates who meet the requirements for the qualification will be awarded a pass. The qualification itself is not graded. For each subject candidates will be marked out of 100 and will be graded as follows:

A 75% and above Distinction
B 60% 74 % Merit
C 45% 59 % Pass
D Less than 45% Referred

Candidates achieving a pass grade (C or above) will be awarded the appropriate QCF credits for the unit.
